BiocSol emerged from a decade of pioneering research at the plant health and microbiology labs of UCLouvain.

research at the plant health on laboratory

Our journey began with a clear challenge: finding biological alternatives to synthetic pesticides, especially for potato crops in Wallonia, where the sector is the largest consumer of plant protection products, many of which are used to fight late blight.

The adventure started in 2012 within the plant health and microbiology labs of UCLouvain identified promising biocontrol agents effective against multiple potato pathogens. Simon Caulier’s doctoral thesis further explored and defined these agents’ modes of action, leading to the discovery and characterization of key bacterial metabolites involved in biocontrol.

Beyond science, we’ve built a robust business model, protected our intellectual property, and attracted both private and public investors. Our vision is clear: BiocSol aims to become a leading developer and marketer of effective, environmentally friendly, and sustainable plant protection solutions.
